Portrait of Kate Bush as a Winter Tree
Art's Description
About this painting
The branches of a winter tree can often form interesting shapes. I wanted to those lines to follow the contours of a portrait, just enough to alert the subconscious mind of the viewer, so that a face is visible when seen from the corner of the eye.
This picture is delicately painted in lilac, a minty green and yellow brown. The moon in the top right corner adds to the sense of distance. The green foreground is important to indicate the pose of the portrait contained within, the bump on the left is Kate’s right hand shoulder. The tiny distant tree indcates the neck line.
Painted Feb to Mar 2007.
