Memory (of my 34th Birthday)
Art's Description
About this painting
This was inspired by a birthday card of a summer cornfield regressing towards a distant tree. I liked the colours and decided to transform the sky into a face and the corn into hair.
The face, made of hollow sky, turning away, and a hair style reminiscent of the 1930’s combine to give an impression of recalling a distant memory. The tree adds variety to an otherwise limted colour scheme and helps draw a dymamic line through the face to the large cloud near the top right corner. Imagine the picture without the tree to see its significance.
Painted Jan to Mar 2007.
